The IRS Chicagoland Bowling League meets Thursdays at Circle Lanes in Forest Park, IL.
Practice begins at 6:15 p.m. Late arrivals must be communicated with the opposing team and must arrive by the 5th frame of the first game. If bowlers arrive after the 5thd frame, their average will be applied to the first game, and they may jump into the 2nd and 3rd game.
Bowlers must pay $25 per week to bowl, this includes bowling alley fees and prize pots.
Bowlers are responsible for their weekly fees every 12 weeks - this is the end of every third. The secretary documents fees, but individual bowlers are responsible for paying their total at the end of every third.
The season is 32 weeks long. The season is broken down into thirds; each third contains a position week.
Week 1 is September 5 and Week 32 is April 24.
Bowlers do not need their own equipment: Circle Lanes has shoe rental available and bowling balls of multiple weights.
If you would like advice on purchasing your own equipment, you may visit professional bowler shops at neighboring locations.
The league is sanctioned by the USBC. New bowlers must pay to be card-carrying members during their first official game with the league.
Bowlers that have established an average with USBC must provide their member information in order for their average to be carried over to the league.
Bowlers without an average will establish one after bowling their first 9 games.
The IRS Chicagoland Bowling League is a mixed-league with 5-player teams. Teams do not require a minimum number of male or female bowlers - teams could be made up of all-male or all-female bowlers.
Absolute beginners are welcome! The IRS Chicagoland League welcomes new and seasoned bowlers. We strongly recommend that new bowlers learn bowling rules and etiquette, such as when and where to wear bowling shoes.
